His novels have won the Crime Writers’ Association Historical Dagger, the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Novel, and the NZ Booklovers Prize, been shortlisted for the McIlvanney Prize and the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, and longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger.
