A DIVINE FURY longlisted for the 2025 Ngaio Marsh Award
The Cesare Aldo historical thriller A DIVINE FURY is one of 15 novels longlisted for the 2025 Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Novel.
This is the fourth year in succession that one of D. V. Bishop’s books has made the longlist; last year Ritual of Fire went on to win the prize at the Word literary festival in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The winner will be announced at the Word festival in Christchurch this September.
The new Cesare Aldo historical thriller CARNIVAL OF LIES is one of thirteen novels longlisted for the 2025 McIlvanney Prize, alongside books by Sir Ian Rankin, Denise Mina and past winners Liam McIlvanney, Alan Parks and Callum McSorley.
This is the third time running one of D. V. Bishop’s books has made the longlist; last year A Divine Fury made it all the way to the final five, with The Cracked Mirror by Christopher Brookmyre winning the prize at the Bloody Scotland festival in Stirling.
